Hi, I'm Penny.
Knit Club in the City was set up by me, Penny Verry, in 2017.
Knitting a square that turned out to be a trapezium with very slopey sides at the age of 8 was an unsuccessful beginning. But the square that wasn’t a square was followed up soon after by a V-necked jumper and that was that – I was smitten.
Many pairs of fingerless mitts, scarves, hats, Aran knits, hooded jumpers, Christmas stockings, decorations and blankets of all sizes later here I am with a passion to bring knitting to the masses.
I love chunky textures and swathes of colour and am especially interested in ‘yarn bomb’ style large-scale installations which can create atmosphere and a sense of celebration.
Originally from an Advertising/research consultancy background which involved facilitating creative corporate workshops, I have also worked as a primary school teacher in Walworth, South London.
Since 2013 I have been working with adults, teenagers and children facilitating and teaching at knitting workshops.
